The Ballet "Ara de Madrid" was created in 1988 under the direction of its professor Carmina Villar, who is also the choreographer of the ballet, who was always supported and defended Spanish Folklore, in the new cultural era of reviving popular arts and costumes.
The Ballet recorder cultural variation in all its aspects in all Madrid, even in the smallest towns surrounding the capital, and this was a great method to shed the light on folkloric traditions and re-designing some of the antique and original costumes.
When "Ara de Madrid" represents the city of Madrid, it shows all the typical dances belonging to that area as they represent the capital of Spain, inspired by the great Spanish painter 'Francisco de GOYA". Choosing the colors of the costumes of the Ballet was influenced from the shades used by Goya in his portraits.
Carmina Villar, being the Professor, choreographer and director of the Ballet, is also a professor of classic ballet and Spanish dancing. She plays a big role in all Spain as a member of Dancing Juries. She recently attended a conference of International Folklore Dance of deaf people, who are part of groups touring all over the world and in countries like Algeria, Romania, Spain, Ukraine and Russia. Thus playing a big part of distributing the Spanish folklore in all its unique variation through the world.
